The National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Adams Oshimole, said the party has followed its constitution by disqualifying Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki.
The Edo state governor, Obaeki was on friday disqualified from contesting in the APC primaries, ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
Oshimole, speaking on Channels Television, said the party's decision was subject to appeal.
We are just fo,lowing our party constitution. We have screening committee, they turned out a report. And the report is subject to the appeal commmittee for everyone who chooses to appeal aganist the finding of the screening committee.
The motive of the screening is to take nothing for granted. And until they go through the appeal process, I as the National Chairman cannot comment on it, Oshimole said.
Obaseki on his side, rejected the disqualification and has made it clear that he will not appeal the committee's verdict.
The Governor is rumored to be considering defecting to the People's Democratic Party (PDP), who has expressed an interest in accepting him back.
