On monday night, the Government of Enugu State confirmed 3 new cases of coronavirus, bringing it to the total of 15 case in the State.
Among the the new case is a widow from Igbo-Ekiti Local Government Area of the state who smuggled her husband's corpse from Lagos State for burial.
So far, the confirmed cases of the COVID-19 in the state have active travel cases, which occured while the inter-state travel has been banded.
Confirming the development, Obi Emmanuel Ikechukwu, the State’s Commissioner for Health, lamented that people had continued to defy the ban. He also added that, two other patients who are recieving treatments has tested negative to the virus.
These unfortunate are coming up due to the individuals who have deliberately disobeyed the lockdown order and the inter-state transportation which was imposed by the federal and state government. We all have to strictly obey all measures and regulations and exercise restraint from behaviours that will put others at risk, He said.
The good people of Enugu State are still encouraged to continue to comply with the directives of the Federal and Enugu State governments on containment of the spread of COVID-19 as well as the precautionary measures in the public health advisory of the Federal Ministry of Health, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, and the Enugu State Ministry of Health.
