For violating the order of the law given about COVID-19 which is the lockdown in the Kaduna State, A moile Court in the State has sentenced a popular Islamic cleric, Sheikh Yusuf Rigachukun, and his son.
Also, a Major General in Nigerian Army was also arrested along Abuja/Abuja highway for breaking the lockdown order. The commisssioner of Justice and Attorney General, Aisha Dikko, made this announcement in his statement on Monday.
The Islamic cleric and his son were arrested at Kaduna State University (KASU) junction, for violating the stay at-home and not weraing face masks.
The commissioner said the cleric told him that he was invited by the Kaduna State Media Coporation (KSMC) for a radio programme, that was the reason he ignored the lockdown order.
The commissioner said the preacher and his son where charged N5,000 each for not wearing a face masks. The cleric also asked the cleric to tell the public on how to stop the spread of COVID-19.
Aisha Dikko also said, the Kakuri Mobile Court also arrested an Army General at the Toll Gate area of Kaduna-Abuja Express way. He was dressed in his full inform while driving in from Abuja with three other passengers who were not wearing face masks.
The official said the General identified himself and said he was coming from Abuja on official duty.
“However, the court tried and convicted the other three passengers, for not complying with the stay at home order and wearing face masks”, she said.
Aisha Dikko disclosed that 75 culprits were convicted out of the 105 people who violated the ban on inter-state travel.
They were nabbed at the border between Kaduna and Abuja, as well as the Kaduna-Katsina state border.
