The People's Democratic Party in Plateau State and it's governorship hopeful in 2019 general elections,Senator Jeremiah Useni governorship decision has requested that the council proclaim Governor Simon Lalong ineligible to challenge the 2019 governorship race in the state.

The PDP and its governorship hopeful, in an appeal recorded at the court sitting in Jos, kept up that Lalong was ineligible to take on the situation of senator, having presented an alternate authentication to INEC bearing diverse name from that of the present legislative head of Plateau state, Simon Bako Lalong.

The name in the conflict is Simon Sule Bako rather than Simon Bako Lalong which the senator is formally referred to and tended to as.

The applicants through their advice, Mike Ozekhome (SAN) contended that in the event that it was found that the representative did not meet all requirements to challenge the race, at that point the court would have no compelling reason to enter further hearing on the fundamental petitions which they documented against him and the All Progressives Congress in regards to the race.

He asked that the court which was directing pre-preliminary to administer on the issue before beginning hearing on the primary petitions.

In any case, direction to the APC, Mr Garba Pwul, SAN, in his answer blamed the PDP request and asked the council to strike it out dependent on details.

He contended that it was a pre-decision matter which ought not be engaged by the council and that a similar name was utilized by the senator during his first term with no issue.

Administrator of the three-man council, Justice Halima Salman, said that decision would be conveyed on the issue during the last judgment.

In the interim, the council on Friday, said it had finished up pre-hearing session on the governorship petitions and would initiate hearing on the principle petitions on June 26, 2019.
