Taxi Driver Charged Over The Kidnap Of 10 Children

The police on Wednesday charged a 25-year-old cab driver, Kenneth Edet, in a Grade I Area Court in Mpape, Abuja, for purportedly grabbing 10 youngsters.

The police charged Edet, who lives in Mpape, with one tally of kidnapping.

The Prosecution Counsel, Mr Edwin Ochayi, told the court that the case was accounted for at the Mpape Police Station on June 22.

Ochayi claimed that the respondent was caught at a graveyard in Mashafa Village by certain individuals when they heard a sound originating from his vehicle.

He said that the kids were matured somewhere in the range of 12 and 18 years.

Ochayi said that during police examination, the respondent couldn't give palatable answer about where he was taking them to .

The offense, he stated, repudiated the arrangements of Section 272 of the Penal Code.

The respondent, in any case, argued not liable to the charge.

The Judge, Salihu Ibrahim, conceded the respondent to safeguard in the aggregate of N300, 000 with one surety each in like entirety.

Ibrahim requested that the surety must be sensible and solid.

He additionally requested that the surety must store his or her character card at the court library for confirmation.
